Coley Family,

It was with great sadness that I learned of Coach Coley's recent passing.  While I did not know Steve personally, I only needed to read other postings to know that he was a major influence in the lives of those he served as a teacher and coach over his outstanding career.  What a wonderful legacy to leave and I pray it will live on through those he impacted.  Please know that you are in the thoughts and prayers of Steve's many friends in the South Carolina Athletic Coaches Association.  May God give you His comfort and peace during this difficult time.

Cindy, Matt, Brett, Susan and Beth,

So sorry to hear about Steve.  He was such a great influence in my life and in that of my son, Shane.  A great coach, teacher and wonderful man to know and to learn from.  He always said "You got to have an idea" when coaching the boys.  That phrase lives on in their lives.  Better ideas on life and on being bigger than they thought they could.  No one will ever know the influence he had on the members of all his teams.  It certainly goes far beyond the fields of games and practices.  I thank you for sharing Steve with all of us.  May God hold you close as you grieve.

Cindy, Matt, and Brett- I taught across the hall from Steve at East Rutherford for the 14 years we were blessed  to have him. He was a consummate teacher, coach, and friend. His brilliant smile, quick wit, and sparkling personality made every day a pleasure. Please know that he was so beloved by our students, faculty and staff, and community. Though our hearts are so heavy, it is comforting to know that he made this final journey surrounded by you, his family, that he so cherished. He took such great pride in showing off every new pic of Andrew, and sharing stories of his latest adventure with his Papaw. Heaven has gained a giant of an angel. My thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time.

My heartfelt condolences go out to Steve's family.  I taught at LHS with Steve for many years. What a baseball coach he was.  I will always remember in June 1975 at Turbeville High school for the state championship Landrum lost the first game in the rain. They had to win the rest of the games to be champions and they did by beating McCrory-Liston HS twice and both games in extra innings.
Rest in peace my fellow teacher.

I am saddened to note the passing of Steve.  I taught with him at LHS for many years.  My classroom was near his for a lot of the time I taught.  You could always hear him departing some wisdom to the students.  He had the unique ability to relate to students of all levels.  His students always spoke highly of him.  He always had something positive to say.  He was a hard worker that seemed to go twenty four hours a day doing something constructive.  Cindy, Brett, and Matt you are in our prayers.  Steve will be missed.
