I am so sorry to have read about the murder of SFC Judge. While it may be of no consequence to his family, he died a hero. He did what others have not done, first by serving in the Army and then by trying to defend a woman against attack. My sympathies to his family.

I've known Charles since 1998 . He was one of my first buddies when we worked at Geico . I just wanted to say , although. We haven't spoke often these past 10 years other then on Facebook . I can honestly say I was so proud of him and all that he had became and accomplished these last 18 years . He truly was admired by many . When I look back at the crazy times we had hanging out with friends back then , he was always the watchful eye on all of us back then and now he will forever watch over and protect us from heaven . God bless you Charles , God bless your family , God bless you for keeping America safe in these trying times

The shock of what has happened has held me all this week. You were a great soldier, and it was an honor to have served with you in FA. You went out doing what we have been trained to do, and nothing is more honorable. I was unable to go to your visitation, but i spent the day where you stood last, honoring all that you did and what you stood for.Rest now my brother, your fight is over, we will meet you on the other side where warriors gather.

I only had the privilege to know Judge for a short time as he was my instructor for WLC. In that short time he had a huge impact. He always thought the class that the Individual Soldier came first. Don't worry about the mission or the Commander. Take care of your people and they will take care of you. I am so sorry he was taken so soon but know that he is living in every Soldier he thought and served with. He was a once in a life time leader.

Charles was like a brother to me and was with me during my formative years as we transitioned from young adults into men. We met in basic training and became great friends. He even served with me in the Florida Army National Guard (2/116 FA) for a few years before returning to SC.
I often reflect on the fun we had in service and in personal life. Charles was never dull yet retained a seriousness when needed. Trips with Judge were the absolute best. Our trip to Mardis Gras in NOLA is still my favorite trip to NOLA, and I go often. I learned while he lived with me that he loved listening to music and enjoyed downtime. Yet even in relaxation, Charles was always stirring to do something or talk about life and what's both right and wrong in the world.
Charles always served his fellow man and would drop his own priority to help someone out. His need to do something and serving his fellowman merged with his project in upstate SC. Charles respected those who worked hard and served. There was no group of people that he was meant to serve more than his fellow service members. His impact has been felt by many, and his model for service and fellowship is something for all to achieve.
I'll miss you until I see you again someday Charles. With all the love and respect I have within me, I love you brother.

As a teacher at Landrum High School, I noticed the friendliness, compassion, and concern for others that Charles displayed in my math classes. I was proud to see that Charles continued these traits in his adult life, especially his service to our country and to fellow veterans. Our nation needs more good men like Charles.
