I met Ray many years ago when I was teaching at Landrum High School. Early one morning he was at Landrum High School to help administer the ASVAB test. He spotted my amateur radio license tag and approached me as I was going into the school. He asked if I was an amateur radio operator. Ray was also an amateur radio operator. I liked Ray as he was always friendly and had a positive attitude. He and John Lawrence, SR helped me demonstrate amateur radio to a class. Although I hadn't seen Ray in several years, he left a positive remembrance that I will never forget. Ray, rest in peace.

Dear Sally and Family, Geneva and I were sadden to learn of Ray's departure. He was a good Christian man. We always enjoyed your family and remember those good days at Westminster. We have moved back to Spartanburg and live on the same street as before - different house. Please know of our prayers, thoughts and love for you during this time of adjustment. Please give all the children our love. May the Lord Bless You, Bob and Geneva Pettit
