Wendell T. Barton

Wendell T. Barton, 84, of Wellford SC passed away on January 7, 2025.  He was the son of the late Otis F. and Ella Johnson Barton and husband of Georgia Rhodes Barton.

He began his career as a SC Highway Patrolman and retired as Assistant Plant Manager from Rauch Industries.  Most importantly, he loved God. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend.  He was an animal lover and you would never find him without his dog, Maggie.  His favorite pastimes were spending time with loved ones, making friends, fishing, being outside feeling the sun, playing solitaire, working crossword puzzles, watching birds, and having spirited debates with his brother.

He is survived by his wife Georgia Rhodes Barton; a son Jeffrey T. Barton; a daughter Wende B. Conrad (David); seven grandchildren Megan Heskett, Patricia Mitchell (Stephen), Emily Ullman, Isabelle Conrad, Sophie Conrad, Miranda Barton and Geoffrey Barton; and six great grandchildren Mark Mitchell, Sutton Heskett, Liam Mitchell, Blaire Heskett, Koen Mitchell, Laurelei Mitchell.

He was predeceased by two sisters Jean Wofford and Betty Revan and a brother Bobby Barton.

A celebration of Life will be held at 10:00am Monday, January 13, 2025 at Petty Funeral Home led by pastor Rob Gouge.
