Walter " Walt" Hammitt Obituary

Walter "Walt" Charles Hammitt, Sr., 76, of Campobello, passed away on May 10, 2021.  He was the son of the late Leo Joshua and Geneva Hagan Hammitt and the husband of Renee Elizabeth Gosnell Hammitt,

He was a member of The Well Church in Landrum and retired from Bommer Industries as a truck driver.  Walt was considered "The Mayor" of the Briar Patch in Campobello.  He loved to ride motorcycles, go camping and loved anything having to do with food but most of all he loved doing fun things with his grandkids. He was always ready to go.

In addition to his wife Renee, he is survived by two sons, Walter Charles Hammitt, Jr. and Joseph Walter Hammitt; two daughters, Donna Ann Hammitt and Katherine Olivia Hammitt; a brother Jeff Hammitt: a sister, Debbie Hammitt; grandchildren, Adyn Leo Johnson, Kyri Elise Johnson, Brandy Hammitt, Chris Hammitt, David Hammitt, Cindy Hammitt and Casey Hammitt; two great grandchildren.

He was predeceased by two brothers, Doug and Leon Hammitt and a sister Wanda Moore.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 13, 2021 from 6 - 8 PM at Petty Funeral Home.  A graveside service will be held on Friday, May 14, 2021 at 2 PM at New Prospect Baptist Church Cemetery conducted by Rev. Jimmy Camp.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to The Well Church, PO Box 518, Landrum, SC 29356.
