Virginia Reid Obituary

Marilyn Viginia "Jackie" Reid, 83, of Landrum, SC, passed away on Tuesday, September 10, 2024 at Upstate Community Hospice House, Landrum, SC. 

Born in Landrum, SC, she was the daughter of the late Roy J. and Virgil Pruitt Dill. She was the widow of the late Steve Reid. Jackie enjoyed playing cards and going to thrift stores and yard sales. She was also an avid South Carolina Gamecock fan. She and her late husband owned and operated Reid Construction for over 50 years. Jackie was a member of Redeemed International Church. 

Surviving are a nephew, Tony Dill; three nieces, Linda Walker, Kay Madden, and Peggy Thomson; siblings-in-law, Larry Reid, Carolyn Reid, Roland Reid, Tim Reid, Jeff Reid (Wanda), Albert Reid (Dorothy), and Chet Reid (JoAnn). Also surviving is a best friend, Brenda Hyder. 

In addition to her parents and husband, Jackie was predeceased by a brother, George Dill, and two sisters, Jeanette Phillips and Frances Pittman. 

A funeral service will be held at 2:00p.m., Friday, September 13, 2024, at Petty Funeral Home with Rev. George Runion and Rev. Lynn Stewart officiating. 

The family will receive friends from 1:00p.m. - 2:00p.m. prior to the service. 

Burial will be at Evergreen Memorial Gardens. Landrum, SC. 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Upstate Community Hospice House, 260 Fairwinds Rd., Landrum, SC 29356.
