Ruth Cassens Obituary

Ruth Cassens, 89, of Campobello, South Carolina, passed away on May 8, 2023. She was the daughter of the late Otto and Frieda Doering, and wife of the late Russell L. Cassens.

Ruth was a manufacturing purchasing agent with Eaton Corporation for many years, serving in this role during an era when very few women held these positions in manufacturing. Ruth loved collecting dolls, Hummels, and other similar items. She was also fluent in German, and enjoyed visiting with her relatives in Germany.

She was married in Wisconsin in 1985 to Russ, and they spent 35 wonderful years together.

Ruth is survived by two step-daughters, Deborah Krueger (Delmar) of Wisconsin and Melanie Nelson (Terry) of Matthews, North Carolina, five step-grandchildren, Alyssa Sales, Andrew Nelson (April), Matthew Nelson (Allison), Jennifer McDermott (Mike), Cassandra Olson (Jim), and eleven step-great- grandchildren, along with cousins and friends in Germany, many friends in Wisconsin and around the country.

A special mention to her wonderful circle of friends from Links of Tryon, who especially looked after Ruth after her husband passed. The family is very thankful for their steadfast help and loving friendship shown to Ruth.

A service will be held at Petty Funeral Home on Friday, May 19th, at 1:00 PM eastern time. Burial will be in Salisbury National Cemetery at a later date.
