Robert "George" Low, 79, passed away peacefully on August 19, 2025, surrounded by his loving daughter.
Born July 30, 1946, in Washington, D.C., Robert was the son of the late Dave and Elinor Low. He was raised in Aiken, SC, and Damascus, MD, and graduated from Erskine College in Due West, SC.
A proud U.S. Army veteran, Robert served as a combat infantryman in Vietnam, earning the Bronze Star Medal for valor along with multiple other decorations for his courage and dedication. He later spent more than 30 years as a store manager with Safeway Groceries in Maryland.
He enjoyed playing golf, vacationing with his daughter, and time with his grandchildren. He will be remembered for his devotion to family, friendly smile, contagious laugh, and selfless nature.
He is survived by his daughter, Maribeth (Wes) Lawter of Landrum, SC; two grandchildren; and his brothers, Tom (Anne) Low of Williamsburg, VA, and Mike (Janet) Low of Ijamsville, MD, along with a niece and several nephews.
Robert recently relocated from Frederick, MD, to Landrum, SC, to be closer to family.
A celebration of life will be held at 2:00PM on Sunday, October 26, 2025 at 710 Landrum Trail, Landrum, SC 29356.
