Robert D. Cantrell

Robert David Cantrell, 77, of Green Creek, NC, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on August 11, 2025.  He was born on April 23, 1948 to the late Robert Edward Cantrell and Sallie Price Cantrell and was husband of the late Joan Melton Cantrell.

He is survived by a son, Michael Cantrell and daughter in law Cathy Cantrell of Landrum, SC; a daughter in law Mary Cantrell of Green Creek, NC; two grandchildren, Jessica Bren (Scott) and Mason Cantrell; two sisters Connie Jean Gilbert (Fredrick) and Pat Cantrell; and special friend Barbara Hall.

He was predeceased by his parents and a son Allan Cantrell.

He worked for over 30 years at Springs  Industries in Lyman and then at Landrum, Mill.  He was a devoted member of Sandy Springs First Baptist where he served as a deacon, Sunday School secretary and oversaw the house and grounds.  He enjoyed woodworking and small engine repair.  He loved spending time with his family and friends and camping and fishing at the lake with his family.  He had a heart of gold and he would help anyone; he will be dearly missed.

The family will receive friends from 10:00-11:00am Thursday, August 14, 2025 at Petty Funeral Home.  A graveside will follow at 11:30 at New Prospect Baptist Church Cemetery conducted by Rev. Art Riddle.
