Richard "Rick" Carruth Obituary

Richard "Rick" Clyde Carruth, 73, passed away on March 21, 2026. He was the son of the late Clyde "Hap" Carruth and Dorothy Faye Burgess Gosnell. After his father's passing, he was raised by the late Dana Gosnell.

He was the co-owner of TransCare Solutions and worked at the Spartanburg County Sheriff's Office for 12 years. Rick was a very quiet person and enjoyed writing, drawing, and traveling. He was a talented musician and could pick up any instrument and play by ear. He loved entertaining by performing magic tricks and was the creator and publisher of "The Magic Road Show Newsletter". Rick was truly a kid at heart.

He is survived by his daughters, Leslie Bishop and Lauren Cruz (Alejandro); a sister, Gayle Moss; grandchildren, Dominic and Andrew Cruz, Elijah Bishop, Morgan, and Caleb Lancaster; three step-children Buddy Owens, Jamie Owens and John Owens; and 16 step grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Carolyn Annette Barnett Carruth, and a brother, Johnny Gosnell and a step-son Scotty Owens.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 - 2:00 PM on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, at Petty Funeral Home, where a funeral service will follow at 2:00 PM, conducted by Dr. Gary Rodgers. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Gardens.
