Rev. James "Henry" Farmer, 90, of Campobello, SC, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on the morning of January 15, 2026. He was the husband of Evelyn Kay Blackwell Farmer and the son of the late Boyce Gordon and Ethel Marie Rainey Farmer.
Henry was a devoted member of First Baptist Church Gowensville, and a strong Christian soul-winner. He founded Parkway Baptist Church in Campobello and pastored churches in several states, including South Carolina, North Carolina, Georgia, and Alabama.
He served as a missionary in Old Mexico and in Yucatán, Mexico, and established two Spanish-speaking churches—one in Mexico and one in Georgia. Henry also served with the Southern Baptist Convention in Language Missions in Palmetto, Georgia, and worked as a prison system evangelist. In addition, he served as a translator for Hispanic children in District 1 Schools.
In addition to his wife, Evelyn, he is survived by a daughter, Kathy Farmer Morton; grandchildren; Ashley Keiffer (Sam), Andrew Gordon Tate (Allison), and Olivia Michelle Tate; a great-grandson, Jace Alexander Patino; and a son-in-law, Mark Tate.
He was predeceased by a daughter, Janet Farmer Tate, and his sisters, Eunice Farmer Gaines and Margaret Farmer Grant.
