Rev. Harold Thompson, 85, of Landrum went home to be with the Lord on December 22, 2024. He was the son of the late Robert Elijah and Margaret Talbert Thompson and the husband of Patricia Wilson Thompson.
He was a member and former pastor at First Baptist Church of Gowensville, where he was also a member of the Hilltoppers and his Sunday School class. Harold loved to cook and ministered through food and the Bible, which is why he was instrumental in starting the Saturday Meals and cooking for the Wednesday Night Meals. He enjoyed traveling and always wanted to go somewhere. Harold was a strong and faithful Christian man who leaves a truly amazing legacy for his church and family.
In addition to his wife Patricia, he is survived by his sons, Timothy Dwayne Thompson, Christopher Jon Thompson and Benjamin Jance Thompson; sisters, Lois Morris and June Wilson; daughter in law, Linda Raines Thompson; grandchildren, Robbie and Melissa Thompson, Seth, Chase and Wil Thompson, Evan and Elise Thompson; great grandchildren, Savannah, Charlotte and Dakota Thompson, Eli and Jack Thompson.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a son, Michael Ray Thompson and a sister, Dorothy Key.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Friday, December 27, 2024 at 1:00PM at First Baptist Church of Gowensville conducted by Rev. Josh Phillips and Dr. Tony Beam. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. There will be a private family graveside service in the church cemetery.
