Raymond Simpson Holbert

Raymond Simpson Holbert, 86, of Tryon, NC passed away November 30, 2021 at Holly Springs Senior Citizens Home.  He was the son of the late William Jacob and Maude Pack Holbert and husband of Myrtle McCraw Holbert.  

Mr. Holbert was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.  He worked in textiles and was a faithful member of Holly Springs Baptist Church and was the oldest serving Deacon at the church.

In addition to his wife, Myrtle, he is survived by a son, Rick (Jill) Holbert; a daughter, Jewel Cooper; five grandchildren, Apryl Holbert, Molly LaMantia, Jessica Bruce, Joanna Cooper, Jeanna McGinnis; and four great grandchildren, Reese, Macie, Milan and Melody.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by two brothers, Bill Holbert, Thaxton Holbert; seven sisters, Ethel Cochran, Mildred Horne, Shirley McEntyre, Katherine Barnette, Jeanette Freeman, Virgie Feagan and June Smisor.

The family will receive friends 2:00-3:00pm Thursday, December 2, 2021 at Holly Springs Baptist Church located at 181 Holly Springs Church Road in  Rutherfordton, NC with the service following at 3:00pm conducted by Pastor Scott Moneyham,  Preacher Tim Hodge and Preacher James Henson.  Burial will be in the church cemetery.
