Rachel Marie Whiteside, 81, of Landrum, SC, went to heaven on November 7, 2025, where she was joyfully reunited with her beloved husband, Jerrie Whiteside.
Born to the late Woodrow and Viola Wilson, Rachel lived a life filled with love, laughter, devotion and a fierce loyalty to the people she held dear. She was a loving mother, sister and “Nana” whose presence filled every room. Feisty, strong-willed, quick-witted and one of a kind, Rachel treasured family above all else. Her happiest moments were spent with her loved ones gathered close – sharing meals, laughter, stories and unwavering support for one another.
In addition to her parents and husband, Rachel was predeceased by her sister, Joyce Nodine.
Rachel leaves behind a legacy of love carried on by her children: Randy Whiteside (Amy), Tolya Turner (Mike) and Rita Culbreth (Dean); her siblings, Frances Cole, Glenda Cantrell, Leon Wilson (Joyce) and Loretta Johnson; her treasured grandchildren, Casey Shehan (Jake), Cassidy Page (Matt), Oliver Fricks and Jessie Smith (Branden); and her cherished great-grandchildren, Callie, Cambree, Carleigh, Cohen and Carter Rae – all of whom brought immeasurable joy to her life; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Rachel will be remembered for her devotion to family, her bold spirit, her generous heart and the lasting love she poured into those around her. Her memory will live on in the countless lives she touched and in the family she held together so beautifully.
Though she is deeply missed, her family finds comfort in knowing she is at peace, dancing in heaven with Jerrie once more.
The immediate family will be at the home of Randy Whiteside and will be having a private Celebration of Life, per Rachel’s request.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Shriners Children’s Hospital.
