Perry Brown Larson “Brownie”, 75, passed away Saturday, March 18, 2023. He was originally from Lansing, New York, but lived his adult life and raised his family in Gaffney and Landrum, South Carolina.
Brownie was the son of the late Dwight Andre Larson and Ester Marie Keeney Larson. He was also predeceased by siblings Nancy Goble, Claudia Roscoe, Timothy Larson and a stepdaughter Leslie Davis.
Brownie is survived by his wife of 12 years Linda Larson, and many well loved friends and family. He leaves behind two sons and their families: Eric Larson (Liza) and Terry Larson (Ashley) and grandchildren Andrew, Zachary, Eli and Emily.
Also surviving are siblings Janette Reeves, Peter Larson and Michael Larson, a stepdaughter Athena Campbell (Josh) and step grandchildren Sarah, Amelia, Katelyn, Madison, Sofia, Zoey and Zach. As well as many much loved nieces and nephews.
After attending Lansing Central School, Brownie decided to serve his country by enlisting in the United States Army. He served with the 2nd Battalion of the 101st Airborne Division in Vietnam. After proudly serving in the Army, Brownie worked for and retired from Norfolk Southern Railroad. He was an avid outdoorsman who never met a stranger and was willing to help anyone in need. He was passionate about making sure fellow Veterans were recognized and supported. He always proudly participated in parades and programs that honored Veterans and enjoyed reunions and his weekly meetings with fellow Vietnam Veterans.
Brownie loved all animals and most people and among his favorites was his rescued Service Dog, Nancy. In lieu of flowers please donate to the Foothills Humane Society or Polk County VFW Post 9116 in Columbus, NC. You may also simply buy socks and shoes for a homeless person, that is definitely what Brownie would have done.
A memorial service will be held at Petty Funeral Home on Monday, March 27, 2023 at 2:00. The family will greet friends and family immediately following the service.
