Patricia "Patsy" Johnson Gilbert passed away on Tuesday, July 21, 2020.  Mrs. Gilbert was born on September 23, 1937 in New Prospect.  She was the daughter of the late Gaines Johnson and Elizabeth Brown Johnson.

Patsy was married to the late Douglas Lynn Gilbert for 53 years.  They were the parents of Rory Gilbert (Carrie) and grandparents to Amanda Bland (Chad), Cody Gilbert, Kimberly McAbee (Nathaniel), Carlee Gilbert and Maci Gilbert.  She is also survived by five great grandchildren, Ella, Iceler, Raylyn, Easton and Baker; brother Michael Johnson and nephew Hamilton Johnson.

She was predeceased by an infant daughter Dona Elizabeth Gilbert, son Dale Gilbert and grandson Lynn Gilbert.  She was also predeceased by brothers Dewey Johnson and Jerry Johnson and  sister in law Carolyn Johnson.

Mrs. Gilbert was retired after working 60 plus years; ten years at Lyman Printing and Finishing, twenty years at Butte Knit and twenty years making curtains for many homes in Spartanburg County.  She also did private sitting for 10 years.

Patsy graduated in 1955 from Chapman High School, the first graduating class from Chapman High School.

Mrs. Gilbert was a member of New Prospect Baptist Church and served many years as fellowship hall chairperson and youth Sunday School Teacher.

Many family members and friends remember the wonderful Sunday and holiday meals she prepared.  She enjoyed caring for and watching her flowers grow.  

Graveside services will be held at New Prospect Baptist Church Cemetery on Friday, July 24, 2020 at 11:00 conducted by Dr. Tommy Turner.

The family is at their respective homes.
