Michael Strickland Obituary

Michael Anthony Strickland passed away on July 20, 2024 and not as a ploy to avoid creditors and current or old girlfriends. He didn’t live as long as some, but he left an indelible mark.

Michael was born in North Carolina and raised in Jacksonville, FL, son of Catherine Bell Robinson and Edward H. Robinson. At 3 years old, when his mother was expecting his little sister, his parents asked if he’d like a baby sister or a dog. He chose the dog. Rubi Irene Robinson (Jorgensen) and the new family pet, a standard black poodle joined the family together. He didn’t realize his luck in getting the little sister he did, but that life lesson came later in his life.

In his teen years, he also formed a bond and relationship with his biological father,  Dennis Strickland of Maxton, NC, and family.

In his early life, Michael was known for having impressive manners, his love for all animals, being a friend to everyone, and also for being an exceptional competitive  swimmer, and possibly outdoorsman.  He was the jack of all trades and had all the tools for the job (if he could find them). Michael was the life of the party, but never a rule-follower. A fact proven by his refusal to adhere to his heart-healthy dietary restrictions in his final years. He loved southern cooking, any foods deep-fried, smothered in gravy, Little Debbie snack cakes, and candy galore.

MICHAEL - The man. The myth. The legend.

It’s possible that at least 50% of the stories he’s told over the years are true (we’ve certainly heard a few eye-raising tales), but who knows for certain?

The Legend and Adventures of Michael will someday be heard around campfires and his name will be spoken in hushed tones.

He leaves behind a loving and supportive family, a little dog that adored him, a barrage of unanswered texts and calls from his admirers, and a lot of tools, stuff, and mostly junk that his family has no idea what to do with it. Unfortunately, there isn’t enough space here to list all of the women from Michael’s past, but they know who they are. He will be missed (greatly or moderately, depending on who you’re speaking to).

Everyone who would like to remember Michael is asked to celebrate his life in their own way; by telling a story of their choosing.

Instead of flowers, we would hope that you will do an unexpected act of kindness for someone else. Michael liked to buy food for the car behind him in the drive-thru lanes.
