Marvin Ray Fowler, 80, entered his eternal rest on Wednesday, September 27, 2023. Born in Campobello on July 3, 1943, the son of the late Joseph M. and Edith Hyder Fowler.
Marvin was a Veteran of the armed forces, having served in the Army. He went on to work as a shop manager for Ballenger Paving, where he retired after over 30 years of dedicated employment. Marvin enjoyed spending his days building birdhouses, cutting grass and reading.
A devoted husband, he is survived by his wife of 52 years, Karen Eubanks Fowler. A proud father and grandfather, he is survived by a son Joseph McMakin Fowler (Anna), a daughter Dr. Ashley Raye Fowler; six grandchildren, Davis Grey, Joseph Daniel (JD), Charlotte Bloom, Colleen Raye, Jay Warren, and Griffin (Finn) Creed. He is also survived by six siblings; Don Fowler (Elaine), Joe Dean Fowler (Carolyn), Lynn Hall, Ginny McAninch, Kathy Eidson (Bill), and Ricky Nelson Fowler. He was predeceased by a brother Thomas Edward “Pete” Fowler as well as a granddaughter, Ellison Grey Fowler (daughter of Joseph and Anna).
Services will be held on Saturday, September 30, 2023 at Motlow Creek Baptist Church in Campobello, SC. Receiving friends will be held at 10:00 AM, followed by a memorial service at 11:00 AM. The service will be conducted by his nephew Dr. Dalton Fowler, pastor of Hopewell Baptist Church in Anderson, SC.
