Malorie Chitwood Obituary

Malorie Green Wilkerson Chitwood, 95, of Landrum passed away on November 1, 2024.  She was the daughter of the late Frank and Lillian Painter Green.   She was the widow of John Chitwood. 

Although she didn't have children of her own, Malorie mothered many including John's children who are left to cherish her memory; a daughter, Phyllis (Michael) Spicer; two sons, Kevin Chitwood, and Larry (Goldie) Chitwood; two grandchildren, Brandy Davis, and Brian Chitwood; and two great grandchildren, Claudia Painter and Alex Davis.  She is also survived by three nieces Delora Green, Mary Ann Grindstaff and Diane Haskin.

She was predeceased by her first husband, Jesse Wilkerson; a brother Leonard Green, a sister Dorothy Green Lindsey and a special niece raised in the home Linda Wilkerson Cogdell.

She was a caregiver by nature working as a nurses aide for many years.  She cared for people and all animals.  She was a faithful member of Southside Baptist Church for many years.

The family would like to say a special thank you to Malorie's caregivers over the past few weeks, Brandy Davis, Alice Maw and Mildred Ruppe.

The family will receive friends from 11:00am to 12:00pm Wednesday, November 6, 2024 at Southside Baptist Church.  A funeral service will follow at 12:00pm conducted by Rev. Chuck Mullinax. Burial will follow at Jackson Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery.
