Lucy Pace Obituary

Lucy Forrester Pace, 79, wife of Paul Pace for 58 years, woke up with Jesus on Sunday morning, July 24, 2022.  The daughter of Ellis “Buffalo” and Evie Griffith Forrester, she was a beloved wife, Mama and Meme.

A current member of Inman Mills Baptist Church, she used her talents to serve her Lord at Jackson Mill Baptist Church, Westside Baptist Church, Duncan Baptist Church and First North. As a devoted Christian, she was always a servant at heart and enjoyed being a part of the WMU, teaching GAs and serving as a deacon’s wife.  She continued her service into the community by contributing to the Spartanburg Christian Women’s Club and the Rural Carriers Auxillary.

Lucy graduated from Landrum High School and later from Cecil’s Business College.  Lucy loved her Class of 1961 classmates and devoted her time to keep the closeness of that group of lifelong friends.  She was employed at Lyman Finishing Company for many years.

Her maternal grandmother taught her to sew at a young age, so she developed a small business with her talents.  She took pride in her crafts to serve her friends and neighbors for over 50 years. Lucy touched numerous lives with her beautiful prom, pageant, wedding and bridesmaids dresses; her delicious cakes and cake squares; and her quilts, crocheted afghans, baby blankets and doilies. Being able to make those gifts added so much joy to her life.

Being the eldest daughter of the family, Lucy took on the responsibility to help care for her three brothers and three sisters. She is predeceased by her parents and brothers Russell Forrester and Richard Forrester.

She loved her family strongly. She was the proud Mama of her son Tony (Vonda) Pace of Wellford, SC; and daughter Pennie (Chris) Stacey of Chesnee, SC; the the doting Meme to her beautiful grandchildren Jordan (Mary) Pace of Goose Creek, SC; Heather (Ryan) Steward of Boiling Springs, SC; Ellie Stacey of Charlotte, NC; Curtis Stacey of Chesnee, SC and the light of her life was being the Great Meme to David Steward and Caroline Pace.

She loved being the sister to Jim (Patty) Forrester of Yuma, AZ; Laura (George) Fox of Shreveport, LA; Alice Forrester Durham of Boiling Springs, SC; Betsy (Royce) Cribbs of Brooklet, GA; and special “Sissy” to Helen Forrester and Betty Forrester Burgess.  She adored her many nieces, nephews, cousins, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law.

Services will be held at Inman Mills Baptist Church on Thursday, July 28, 2022 conducted by Rev. Jack Hames.  The body will be at the church for viewing beginning at 12:00 noon until 12:45pm. The funeral service will begin at 1:00pm and the family will receive friends in the fellowship hall after the service until 3:45pm to enjoy an afternoon ice cream treat as Lucy did every day.  Rev. Al Phillips will conduct the private burial service following the ice cream fellowship.
