Larry L. Wilson, 88, joined his Heavenly Father on December 28, 2025. He was born on May 28, 1937 in the Landrum community to his parents, Jefferson Leroy and Virginia O' Shields Wilson.
Larry graduated from Chapman High School in Inman. He was a successful businessman with a background in sales and real estate. Larry worked many years of his career at WSPA for 30 years and WYFF for 15 years in Greenville and Asheville. He served in the National Guard for 9 years and was a member of the New Prospect Ruritans. He was one of the original board members of the New Prospect Fire Department and helped organize the NPFD.
Larry was an avid water sports enthusiast. Many summers were spent at the lake swimming, water skiing, fishing and hosting friends and family. He loved being outdoors whether it was hiking, hunting or taking trips with Doris. Larry particularly enjoyed his time with friends in the Hiking Club.
Larry was a faithful member of New Prospect Baptist Church for 68 years and was a member of the Friendship Sunday School class.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Doris B. Wilson and their son, Larry “Marc” Wilson.
Larry is survived by a brother, Lance Wilson, his wife Linda; a sister, Ann W. Brock, her husband, Dan, and several nieces, nephews, a great niece, and great nephews.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Kay W. Thomas
The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00pm on Sunday, January 4, 2026 at New Prospect Baptist Church. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 pm in the church sanctuary conducted by Dr. Ron Gaddy. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
