Kenneth Ray "Red" Sims, 67, of the Blue Ridge community peacefully passed away while surrounded by his loved ones on April 2, 2025 at his home of 38 years. He was born on August 27, 1957, the son of Ray Sanford Sims and Clois Elizabeth Sims and husband of Jean Drummond Sims.
Red was a devoted husband, Dad, Papa, Brother & Uncle who loved his family with all his heart. He knew Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior and was a member of Freedom Fellowship in Taylors. He was born in Greer & was a lover of bluegrass music and a guitar player extraordinaire (by his own admission), having played in many professional bluegrass bands for close to 50 years. He will be greeted in heaven by his family, friends and musicians who have gone on before. Red built and operated a booming business in Sims Blue Ridge Tire (We Won't Leave You Flat) for 30 years. He also taught guitar for aspiring musicians, young and old. He was a generous and kind man.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sons Joshua Andrew Sims (Bridgett); Christopher Jacob Sims (Kristina); 5 grandchildren, Kinsleigh Sims, Emma Sims, Cooper Sims, Chloe Sims & Nina Sims; one sister Carolyn Howard. He was predeceased by a brother Jimmy Sims.
A gathering of family and friends will be held on Sunday, April 6, 2025 from 4:00-7:00PM at Lindsey Plantation, 754 Camp Creek Rd, Taylors, SC 29687.
