Kenneth "Larry" Stott

Kenneth Larry Stott, 82, of Stott’s Corner, passed peacefully on June 8, 2026.

He was born in the Collinsville area of the Green Creek Community on February 14, 1944, to the late Walter and Tessie Culbreth Stott. He was the youngest of nine children. He was raised in and worshipped many years at Hickory Grove Baptist Church, where he and Doris raised their children and he served as a deacon. He was later a member of First Baptist Church Landrum.

Larry was an avid car person, which led to a lifelong career in auto repair. He opened his own shop, Larry Stott’s Garage, in Columbus in 1973, later moving to its current location at Stott’s Corner where it continues in operation today. He not only worked on cars but enjoyed racing them as well. For many decades, he was a fixture at NHRA and IHRA drag strips around the southeast and other parts of the country, winning many events and making numerous friends along the way.

In addition to his parents, Larry was predeceased by five brothers, Clifford, Junior, Alvin, Cecil, and Bobby Joe Stott and one sister, Elizabeth Burrell. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Doris Case Stott, as well as their children, Autumn Stott, Lyle Stott (Julie) and Emily Volkman (Michael), and grandchildren, Kenneth Stott, Payton Stott, MattieCase Nhung (Nicholas) and Knox Volkman. He is also survived by two brothers, Harold Stott (Barbara) and James Stott (Peggie) as well as sisters-in-law, Marvetta Stott and Shirley Stott and a host of nephews, nieces and their families.

Visitation will be at Petty’s Funeral Home on Friday, June 12 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. The funeral service will be Saturday, June 13 at 2:00 pm at First Baptist Church Landrum. Internment will follow at Hickory Grove Baptist Church.

Pallbearers will be Lyle Stott, Michael Volkman, Kenneth Stott, Payton Stott, Knox Volkman, and Nicholas Nhung.
