Kathleen McMillian

Kathleen McMillian, 97, of Columbus passed away on September 28, 2024.    She was the daughter of the late Judson Clyde and Lizzie Lee Wilson Pitman.       She was predeceased by her sister and best friend, Ann Pitman Whitmire.

She served three terms as the Mayor of Columbus and she was a member of Columbus First Baptist Church where she served as treasurer for many years.  She lived in Columbia, SC for years where she worked at the Baptist Hospital and served with the Red Cross.   Later she worked at Tryon Federal Bank in Columbus and worked as the manager at Southpaw Marketing Group.

She is survived by two nephews Tim  Hutcherson (Susan) and  Robie Hutcherson (Jodi); and many great nieces and nephews.  

A graveside service was held at 2:00 pm Thursday, October 3, 2024 at Polk Memorial Gardens, Columbus NC.    

A celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, November 2, 2024 at 12:00pm at Columbus First Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Timothy Fortune.
