Jonathan Calvin Summey

Jonathan Calvin Summey, 75, of Saluda passed away on Saturday, October 7, 2023.  He was born in Polk County, son of Lawrence and Jeanette Summey of Saluda.  He was predeceased by two brothers Rev. David Summey and Benny Summey.

He served in the US Army and then worked at Kimberly Clark until he retired.  Jonathan was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.  He is survived by his wife of 44 years Debra Summey; four children Debora Strickland (Doug), Danny Summey, Christy McWhirt (Derek) and Mary Wooten (Jason);  two sisters Sue Davidson (Lee), Nancy Sexton (Darryl), and one brother Bruce Summey (Kathy); five grandchildren and five great grandchildren.  He was a beloved uncle to numerous nieces and nephews.  He was loved by many and will be missed.

The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:30 pm Wednesday, October 11, 2023 at Piney Grove Baptist Church, 3031 Fork Creek Road, Saluda, NC  28773.

A graveside service will follow at 2:30 pm in the church cemetery conducted by Rev. James Shields.  Military Honors will be conducted by the Polk Veterans Memorial Honor Guard.
