Joe Baxter Hamrick, 84, of Inman was called home to the Lord on Sunday, May 25, 2025.
Joe was born on November 14, 1940 to the late Baxter and Alcie Hamrick. He is predeceased by his wife Pherby Brown Hamrick, and Charlotte Kale Hamrick. He is survived by his two children, Rita Jo Bruce (Barry), and Mickey Charles Hamrick (Lorie); his grandchildren Summer Bruce Parsons (Riley), Jordan Jenkins Snively (Tucker), Taylor Jenkins Bishop (Gavin), Caleb Storm Bruce (Breanna), Easton Lewis Jenkins (Hannah) and Audrey Ann Hamrick (Tristan); and his great-grandchildren Tatum Storm Bruce, Theodore Michael Snively, Jackson Taylor Snively, and Adeline Blair Bishop; his sister Lura Hamrick Carswell, and his brothers, Hugh “Bob” Bernard Hamrick (Lynn), and Larry Paul Hamrick (Margie). He is predeceased by his brother John Dean Hamrick and brother-in-law Bruce Austin Carswell.
Joe was a loving husband, father, papa, brother, uncle, and friend. He served as a volunteer firefighter for the Landrum Fire Department for over 20 years. Joe worked for Brown Oil Company for over 25 years but many remember him from his days as an entertaining salesman at Stott's Ford.
Joe was strong in his faith and was an active and faithful member of Fairview Baptist Church Spartanburg.
Joe loved Atlanta Braves baseball and Nascar. Over the years he played softball and loved to swing a golf club or two. Joe enjoyed many things in his life and if you had the pleasure of meeting Joe, you knew he would always bring a smile to your face with his jokester personality as he was a self proclaimed comedian. His gentle love, faith and humorous spirit will live on through his family and friends for generations to come.
The family will receive friends from 1:00-3:00 pm Friday, May 30, 2025 at Petty's Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow at 3:00 pm conducted by Rev. Ty Childers. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Gardens.
Memorials may be made in Joe's memory to First Baptist Church of Landrum Weekday Preschool and After School Program, 300 E. Rutherford St., Landrum, SC 23956.
