Joe E. Brown, Jr.

Joe Earl Brown, Jr., 93, of Landrum, SC passed away at his home on July 20, 2025. He was the loving husband of Juanita Alman who passed away in 2003. He was the son of the late Joe Earl Brown, Sr. and Lucile Harmon Brown.

He was the owner of Brown Oil Company and Joe's Esso for many years. He served on the Landrum Volunteer Fire Department for 39 years from 1958-1997. He served as a First Lieutenant in the US Army and was active in the Landrum United Methodist Church for many years as a Trustee, on the Administrative Council and served as an usher.
He was a graduate and faithful supporter of Wofford College.  He was the longest season ticket holder of Wofford Football games after graduating in 1956.

He is survived by a son Joe Earl Brown III and daughter in law Glenna Brown; a daughter Jody Brown Raines and son in law Jerry Raines; six grandchildren Maggie Raines Chappell (Jamie), Benjamin Thomas Raines, Joe Earl "Jay" Brown IV, Sydnie Brown (James), Joanna Raines Latham (Trevor) and Alexandra Hollings Sanders (James); three great grandchildren Elizabeth Dodge Chappell, Louise Saye Chappell and Parker Alexander Kuck (Shelby).

He was predeceased by a daughter Nita Jo Brown.

The family will receive friends from 10:00-12:00pm on Friday, July 25, 2025 at Petty Funeral Home.  A funeral service will follow at 12:00pm in the funeral home chapel conducted by Rev. Chuck Mullinax.  Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
