Joan Ischinger Obituary

Joan Flory Movius Ischinger passed away peacefully at home in Campobello, SC on May 15, 2022. She was the daughter of Alfred Henry Movius, Jr. MD and his wife Dorothy Estelle Flory Movius. Born March 9, 1935 in Oak Park, Illinois she spent her childhood with her two sisters living in many cities in the United States before returning to Oak Park where she graduated from Oakpark-River Forest High School. She then attended Monticello Junior College for Women in Alton, Illinois majoring in Science and received certification in Medical Technology at Northwestern's School of Medical Technology in Chicago, Illinois. She worked as a Medical Technologist for many years.

She married her high school sweetheart, Eugene Robert Ischinger (Gene) on September 7, 1957 and they had four children, Debra Lynn Ischinger, Julie Ischinger Lane (Bryan), Eugene (Gene) Robert Ischinger, Jr. (Jill), and David Shepard Ischinger (Valerie). In addition to her children, Joan leaves five grandchildren: Kaitlyn Ischinger Paey (Brice), Drew Ischinger, Jenna Ischinger, Heidi Lane, Eric Lane and two great-grandsons, Declan and Ronan Paey She also leaves a sister, Judith Movius MacPherson and nieces Jill Records Kirk (Ray), Stacy Tucker Boatright (Kevin), great nieces Kendal M Records, Laurel and Abigail Boatright and great-nephew Wade Boatright.

Joan was predeceased by her parents, husband, sister Diana Movius Rathbun (Mike) and nephews John Movius Records and Bryan Tucker.

Funeral services will be private. Joan will be interred with her husband, Gene, in an Ischinger family plot in Illinois at a later date. The family is grateful for their wonderful friends who surrounded their Mother with love in her final years. Special thanks to Spartanburg Regional Home Hospice. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to an animal rescue of your choice or the Liberty United Methodist Church, 4276 Highway 414, Landrum, South Carolina 29356 or Spartanburg Regional Hospice, 1530 Drayton Road, Spartanburg , SC 29307.
