Jeffrey Paul Clifton

Jeffrey Paul Clifton, 64 of Landrum, SC passed away December 4th, 2024 in Spartanburg, SC.  He will be greatly missed by his wife of 20 years, Michelle and their children Alexander 19 and Elyse 17.  Jeff loved his family and was always a source of strength to all who knew him.

Jeff was born in Spartanburg, but relocated to San Jose, CA where he met Michelle and they married in 2004.  He loved to explore all that California had to offer and his favorite place was China Beach in Pacific Grove, which is where he and Michelle became engaged.  Hiking, biking and running were a big part of his life in California and the weather allowed for many excursions in the beach and to the mountains.

Jeff found ways to make even simple things fun, he could keep a light heart and spirit even when things were not going well.  When he was laid off from work in his 50’s he and Michelle opened their own custom furniture business called The Fairwinds Company.  He built many beautiful pieces including: custom built in bunk room, many built in offices, tables of walnut and cherry, buffets with burly walnut and much more.  He was unusual because he was an artist, and he was also an engineer, this is a rare combination and he flourished in both areas.

He spent several years leading mission trips to El Salvador with Michelle where they did construction projects and also performed skits and dramas in the streets to bring the story of salvation to the El Salvadorian community.  He was so much fun on these trips, bringing laughter to the El Salvadorian people with his thick southern accent, it made everyone smile.

For work, Jeff’s recent position was the Director of Construction at GSP Airport.  Jeff loved the community at GSP and felt honored to work at such a wonderful place.  He particularly liked that talking about his faith with his co-workers was something that happened regularly.  He mentioned prayer at work and it brought him great pleasure that something so important to him was shared by those he worked with.

Jeff will be greatly missed and is treasured in the hearts of all who knew him. In all his 64 years he was consistently a positive person with an outlook on life that was full of vision, creativity, and hope of the life with Jesus in heaven.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday January 11th at 1:00 at Gowensville Baptist Church 5650 SC-14, Landrum, SC 29356.  Please wear bright colors and bring a story to share.
