Janice Marie (Swinney) Lee

Janice Marie Swinney Lee, 81, of Greer, passed away May 25, 2022. She was the wife of the late Edward Lee, and the daughter of the late Wilmer Otis Swinney and Sallie Mifflin Leonard Swinney. 

She was preceded in death by her son, Steve Todd Lee. She is survived by her daughter-in-law Kathryn Michelle Nichols Lee and her granddaughters, Anna and Esther Lee; and by her brothers, Grady and Boyce Swinney. 

She was a member of Grace Baptist Church in Campobello. 

When we think of Janice we think of FAMILY:
Family by birth….Janice was born into the Swinney family in the mountains of Virginia. She was the youngest of eight children. Through the years, she enjoyed gathering for family reunions, reminiscing about mountain life, and growing up in a mill town. She loved reconnecting with her brothers and sisters and her nieces and nephews.
 
Family by marriage…..Janice married Edward Lee in 1958. Ten years of marriage passed before God blessed them with their son, Steve. She was so proud of him! Years later, God brought along Steve's wife, Michelle. Though she loved her son and daughter-in-law, Janice was thrilled to be called "Granny" by Anna and Esther.  She proudly wore her shirt that said, "Granny is my name. Spoiling is my game!"
 
Family by adoption…..Janice was adopted into the family of God in 1971 when she accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior. Janice loved and served her Lord through working in different children's ministries, visitation, and prayer. Janice was known as a "prayer warrior." If you shared a prayer request with Janice Lee, you knew she would pray for you! She loved to quote Jeremiah 33:3, "Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not." Janice was always looking for more members to be adopted into the family of the Lord Jesus Christ. In her own words, "See you in heaven, if you have made Jesus Christ your own personal Savior by trusting in His sacrifice on the cross for our sins."
 
A funeral service will be held on Friday, May 27, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Grace Baptist Church in Campobello, SC conducted by Rev. Nick Vance. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Road in Spartanburg, SC.
 
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Grace Baptist Church, P.O. Box 220, Landrum SC  29356.
