James (Lee) McGarrity passed away on 1/2/25 at the age of 72 after a short illness. He is survived by Moira his wife of 45 years, his children Kira and Evan (Amber) and his beloved grandchildren Dylan, Ivy, Jaydin and Quinn. He is also survived by his sisters Lynn Mentz, Colleen Reilly and Rachel Everson. He will be welcomed to the afterlife by his parents Jim and Mary and his brother and best friend Brian.
Lee worked for nearly 40 years for Comcast Communications in Pennsylvania. Three years ago while visiting his son Evan and his family Lee fell for the small town of Landrum, SC. Within 6 months his wife retired and he and his family were living there. He loved the friendly people there, the beautiful mountains and all the wild animals that visited his property nightly. Most of all he loved being surrounded by his children and grandchildren.
Lee was very proud to have served in the Marine Corps. If you wish to send a donation on his behalf he felt strongly about helping veterans particularly with homelessness.
Donations could be sent to:
U.S.Vets at usvets.org, Nat’l Coalition for Homeless Veterans at NCHV.org, or the American Legion at Legion.org.
