On Friday, November 15, 2024, James “Jim” Charles Juranitch, age 68 most recently of Landrum, South Carolina took the ultimate drive on the road to eternity. Born on April 4, 1956, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, he was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Rosalie (née Romanowski) Juranitch. He is survived by his loving wife, Priscilla (née Boehme) Juranitch; his three daughters, Leigh (Julian Vivas) Juranitch, Melissa (Timothy John) Ball, Kristine Juranitch; his niece Christiana Boehme; and siblings, Mary Ann (Richard) Truog, Thomas (Katherine) Juranitch, and Robert (Patricia) Juranitch.
Renowned for his sharp intellect and tireless work ethic, Jim made a lasting impression both professionally and personally. Jim attended Marquette University graduating with a degree in mechanical engineering. A visionary leader with a brilliant mind, he was continually driven by the desire to conquer the world’s greatest challenges with groundbreaking contributions that extended across the aerospace, automotive, power, waste management, and environmental sustainability sectors. His ingenuity was partly evidenced by the remarkable achievement of earning over 100 patents for his inventions. While by day he focused on designing, building, and testing revolutionary technologies, at night he devoted himself to his cars, often still using tools he had purchased as a boy with money earned from his job at the local hardware store.
A man of boundless energy and enthusiasm, Jim embraced all his passions with full throttle whether it was seeking out and savoring bakery treats, climbing across hill and dale to delight in the fragrance of lilacs and other blooms, or immersing himself in the world of rolling horsepower. His love of motorsports spanned the entire spectrum, from spirited drives and rides to meticulously designing and upgrading his prized vehicles. He was known for speed-walking through auto shows and avidly followed auctions, eager to commit to memory every detail. Jim was rarely far from four (or two) wheels. He lived every moment to its fullest.
Jim’s life was defined by love, integrity, and an unwavering commitment to improving the world and the lives of those around him. His goals were never driven solely by personal gain; instead, he focused on creating outcomes that benefited all. He consistently sought win-win solutions, understanding that anything less would ultimately fall short. A source of wisdom and kindness, he was always ready to lend a helping hand or share thoughtful advice. Known for his immense heart and clever sense of humor, Jim inspired those he met to 'make their mother proud' in all they did. Jim’s words of encouragement uplifted and motivated countless individuals, from friends and family to colleagues and strangers, as he devoted time and energy to assisting others overcome obstacles and reach new heights.
Throughout his journey of endless accomplishments, his greatest aim was to cherish every mile. With his rare blend of ingenuity, determination, and compassion, Jim left an indelible mark on every life he touched and every engine he tuned. His spirit and larger-than-life legacy of generosity and dedication will be deeply cherished by all who knew him. Jim will be greatly missed.
Interment and remembrance gathering will be held on Wednesday, November 27, at Wisconsin Memorial Park. Floral memorials may be delivered to Wisconsin Memorial Park by 12:00 p.m. on that day. Alternatively, in lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Jim’s name to The American Society of Mechanical Engineers Foundation (ASME). The family extends their deepest gratitude to the compassionate staff at Agape Care Group in Landrum, SC, for their support during Jim’s final days, as well as to the exceptional doctors at MD Anderson, whose dedication granted us more precious time with him.
Jim, although now at the vanishing point where earthly roads end, your soul journeys onward. Safe travels.
