Helen May Blackwell, 65, of Mill Spring, NC, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, July 28, 2024 at her home.
Born in Bay Shore, NY, she was the daughter of Mary Falciani Sherman and the late William J. Sherman. Helen served as the Polk County 4-H extension agent for the state of North Carolina. She enjoyed animals, puzzles, and traveling. The true light of her life was her grandchildren, and she loved them all very much. Helen dedicated her life to her family, and she will be missed by all. She was a member of Big Level Baptist Church.
In addition to her father, Helen was predeceased by husbands, Gary Clark and Ronnie Blackwell, and also a brother, William Sherman.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by daughters, Jolene Williams (Brandon), Noelle McKaig (Sean), Gabrielle Searcy (Tyler), Amanda Blackwell, Jessica Mills (Brandon), and Katie Fredericks (Justin). Also surviving are fifteen grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00am, Thursday, August 1, 2024, at Big Level Baptist Church with Rev. Sean McKaig officiating.
The family will receive friends from 6:00pm - 8:00pm, Wednesday, July 31, 2024, at Petty Funeral Home.
