Harley Newton Clayton, 88, of Inman passed away on April 8, 2023. He was the son of the late William Gowan Clayton, Sr. and Jeanette King Clayton and husband of the late Doris Alverson Clayton.
He retired as District Manager from Tom's Foods. He retired from the US Air Force where he was a Master Instructor for the Minuteman Missile Program. He was a member of Lake Cooley Baptist Church where he served as treasurer, deacon and Sunday School teacher.
He is survived by two daughters Rhonda Williams (Morris) and Kim Spakes (Mike); a sister Joyce Farmer; three grandchildren Justin Williams (Stephanie), Shane Williams (Mandy), and Clayton Spakes (Amanda); seven great grandchildren Asher Matthews, Harleigh Belle Williams, Reagan Williams, Penelope Williams, Jackson Spakes, Waylon Spakes and Kirby Williams.
He was predeceased by six siblings Willie Mae Clayton, Pearl Payne, Annie Clayton, William Gowan Clayton, Jr., John Ervin Clayton and Marvin Clayton.
The family will receive friends from 11:00-11:45am Saturday April 15, 2023 at Petty Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 12:00pm in the funeral home chapel conducted by Chaplain Brian Bailey. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
