Gladys Fowler Harris, 83, of Campobello, passed away peacefully at her home on January 21, 2026. She was the wife of Fredrick "Fred" L. Harris and the daughter of the late Eddie Nish and Effie Terrell Fowler.
Gladys was a graduate of Royston High School, class of 1960. After graduation, she moved to Atlanta, GA, where she attended Georgia State College. She worked at Sears and Roebuck Company, where she met Fred.
They were joined in marriage on May 5, 1961. In pursuit of better opportunities, they moved several times in their early life together. Eventually, she and Fred partnered together to operate a business in Parkersburg, WV, distributing home improvement and hardware products throughout seven states. After many successful years, they retired to Campobello, SC.
Gladys was an active member of Landrum United Methodist Church - she loved the Lord and her church family. Retirement afforded her the time to pursue community and church activities. She enjoyed bowling, cooking, playing cards and playing golf at the Links of Tryon Golf Course, but especially spending time with her family and friends. Her light will be surely missed.
In addition to her husband, Fred, she is survived by her daughter, Donna Harris Young and her grandson, Nikolas Young, both of Spartanburg; her brother, Marshall Fowler (Holli) of Durham, NC; her sister, Brenda Peace (Curtis) of Ocala, FL and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her sisters, Patricia Kay and Gayle Finley.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 12:00 PM on Saturday, April 18, 2026, at Landrum Methodist Church, conducted by Rev. Steven Martinez and Rev. Jane Jenkins. The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the fellowship hall.
