Gennady Chekmasov

Gennady Chekmasov, age 72, passed away peacefully on August 14, 2025. Born in Krasnodar, former USSR, he was the beloved son of the late Boris and Nina Chekmasov.

Gennady was a devoted husband to his wife of 48 years, Valentina Chekmasova, and a cherished father to his four children, Elena, Oksana, Andrey, and Artyom. His love for the outdoors was boundless; he found joy in hiking, strolling through parks, traveling to visit his children, and fishing. Known for his remarkable ability to fix nearly anything, Gennady was always ready to lend a helping hand to those around him. His kindness, generosity, and vibrant spirit left an indelible mark on everyone who knew him. Gennady lived a life full of purpose and love, leaving behind a legacy of warmth and devotion.

He is survived by his loving wife, Valentina Chekmasova; his children, Elena, Oksana, Andrey, and Artyom; his brother, Vasiliy Chekmasov; and his sister, Tatyana.

Services will be held on Monday August 18th, 2025 in Petty Funeral Home on 124 North Trade Street, Landrum at 10 am. followed by burial in Shiloh Memorial Cemetery in Inman on 4040 New Cut Road at 11am.
