Gayle Settle Sims

Martha Gayle Settle Sims, age 81, of Campobello, SC passed away April 25th, 2023.  Gayle was the wife of the late Gene Earl Sims and the daughter of the late Boyce Dearman Settle and Alice Vera Coggins Settle.

Gayle was a hairdresser early in her career and then worked in the family business, Boiling Springs Hardware and Discount Auto Supply.  Gayle loved to work outside with her flowers and enjoyed golfing, shopping, cooking, and spending time with her family.  She was a lifelong member of Walnut Hill Baptist Church where she served as the church treasurer, and piano player.  She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Craig and Claudia Sims, her daughter and son-in-law, Kimberly and Christopher Smith, four grandchildren, Abbey McGinnis (Grant), Emily Melton (Thomas), Matthew Smith and Owen Smith, two great grandchildren Sims McGinnis and Radley McGinnis,  a brother Charles Settle and a sister Betty Johannes (Jack), and many other close family members and friends.  Gayle was preceded in death by four brothers, Harold, Glenn, Bo and Bob Settle.

The family would like to thank Lakewood Independent/Assisted Living, White Oak at North Grove, and Traditions Hospice for their exceptional care of Gayle.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 - 3:30pm Sunday, April 30th at Walnut Hill Baptist Church.  Funeral services will follow at 3:30pm in the church sanctuary and conducted by Rev. Scott Lewellen.  Burial will be in the church cemetery.

The family is at the home of Craig and Claudia Sims, 400 Gate Road Inman,  beginning Saturday April 29th.  Memorials may be made to Walnut Hill Baptist Church, 675 Walnut Hill Baptist Church Road, Campobello, SC, 29322.
