Frances H. Nodine passed away on February 5, 2023, after long, happy life that began in North Pacolet, SC in 1924. Living through the Great Depression and a World War gave her a unique perspective on the big picture and the minutiae alike. She’s quoted as saying “While I may not have a master’s degree, I’m no dummy.” In her own words, she can be remembered as an intelligent, resourceful, no-nonsense woman.
She is predeceased by her late husband, Horace L. Nodine, Jr. She is also predeceased by her son, Gary D. (“Shine”) Nodine and seven brothers and sisters. She is survived by her son Jack W. Nodine, her granddaughter, Jennifer L. Nodine (Lane Walker), her great grandson, Devin Walker, and her grandson, Eric A. Nodine (Patty Nodine, Elise Wheatley, and David A. Wheatley, III).
In addition to her quick wit, she will be remembered for her razor-thin, chocolate chip cookies, her lemon pie, and the Sunday afternoon, nap-inducing lunches. Born in a house with no running water and never deviating from a farm-life mentality, she became a humble wife, employee, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, who will be greatly missed by both family and friends.
A graveside service will be held at 10:00am Wednesday February 8, 2023 at Evergreen Memorial Gardens conducted by Rev. Mark Bishop.
Memorials may be made to Project Rest, 236 Union St., Spartanburg, SC 29302.
