Edith "Edie" Gill Obituary

On November 7th Edith Buckner Gill was taken to her heavenly home. Edith – “Edie” was born on March 15, 1938 to Baxter David and Bertha Caroline Buckner in Arden, NC; with her 3 older siblings Claude Bucker, Eula “Fran” Neely, and Lloyd Buckner.

Her career took her to New York. There she met Louis “Lou” Gill, the love of her life. They enjoyed a fulfilling marriage of 24 years. In 2005 they were separated in life with Lou’s passing.

She leaves behind her greatest pride and joy, two daughters: Donna (Rob) Orr, and Kim (Randy) Wohnig. As well as seven loving grandchildren: Ashkin (Susana), Hannah, Sarah, Matthew, Garren, and Sam. Along with the children added from her marriage with Lou: Susan Herman, Ronald Gill, and Nancy (John) Gleason.

Her passion was interior design; she loved making something beautiful for the world to enjoy. She and Lou enjoyed traveling the world. What’s more: Edie was a savvy businesswoman, who owned multiple business and managed many others. She was also a cancer survivor.

To the Ya-Ya Sisters she sends all her love. To her other sister Joanne: you filled her life with such sweet memories; your friendship is eternal. To all of us who knew her, we feel truly blessed.
