Donald Carl Matz

Donald Carl Matz, 88, of Landrum, SC passed away Thursday, February 1, 2024. Born in Baltimore, MD, he was the son of the late Pastor Alvin W. and Hazel D. White Matz and was the husband of Marilee M. McDaniel Matz.

Left to cherish his memory in addition to his wife are one daughter, Sunny (Michael) Delitala; three sons, Raymon Matz, Donnie Matz, and Daniel (Heather) Matz; nine grandchildren, Kristen, Jessie, Joey, Midori, Gi, Sadaya, Suri, Miya, and Haan; one sister, Jean Bock; two brother-in-law’s, Jerry Dohmeier, and Charles Stairs; many great-grandchildren and cousins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Donna Matz Barrick; and two sisters, Grace Dohmeier, and Dorothy Stairs.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, February 6, 2024, from 2:00pm – 3:00pm at Crossroads Baptist Church, 333 Fox Mountain Road, Columbus, NC 28722. A funeral service will follow at 3:00pm with Rev. Ron Caple officiating. Burial will follow the service in the Ridings Cemetery.
