Dennis Keith Leonhardt, 73, passed away peacefully at his home in Gowensville. He was the son of the late James Edward “Ed” and Ruth Price Leonhardt. He is survived by his wife Janie of forty - nine years and his brother - in- law Jeff Smith (Sue) of Gowensville.
Dennis was born in Greer, SC and grew up on the Victor Mill Hill. He often said, “I was a 1969 graduate of Greer High School, but I learned common sense and life lessons on the Mill Hill.”
After his marriage to Janie, he moved to Gowensville and became a supporter of the community, serving as a volunteer fireman for the Gowensville Fire Department for thirty years, serving as a commissioner, and attending Community Watch Meetings. Through his community service, Dennis made many lifelong friends.
Dennis worked as a Production Supervisor at Leigh Fibers, Inc., in Wellford, SC until his retirement in 2013.
Dennis enjoyed spending time with family and friends, lending a helping hand when needed, fishing, feeding deer, and reading William W. Johnstone novels.
Visitation will be held Thursday, May 8th, 5:00 – 7:00 pm at Petty Funeral Home.
Respecting Dennis’ wishes, a service will not be held.
