Claude “Ronnie” Burrell

Claude Ronald “Ronnie” Burrell, 81, of Landrum, formerly of Greer, SC, passed away on Saturday, April 15, 2023.

He was the son of the late John C. “Doc” and Ethel Dill Burrell. He was the husband of Brenda Stewart Burrell of Greer. Ronnie was a member of Fairview Baptist Church, Landrum, SC. After graduating from Landrum High School, he worked at Inman Mills and Pierce Motors before being drafted into the United States Air Force, where he attended basic training in San Antonio, TX, and then went to MacDill AFB in Tampa, FL. While in Tampa, he attended the University of Tampa. In 1966, Ronnie was deployed to Ubon, Thailand. During his service, he was awarded Airman of the Month and Ping Pong Champion before returning home a year later. Upon discharge, Ronnie spent the next forty-eight years as an OTR truck driver, working for various companies, including his own company, Burrell Trucking.

Surviving are his wife of 61 years, Brenda Stewart Burrell; two daughters, Rhonda Burrell Teems (Roger) of Greer and Monica Burrell Arms (Greg) of Dover, TN; four grandchildren, Dylan Arms, Dalton Arms, Ryan Teems, and Roni Leigh Teems.

He was predeceased by a sister, Loretta Burrell Hyder Holmes.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00pm, Wednesday, April 19, 2023 at Petty Funeral Home with Rev. Lynn Stewart officiating.

The family will receive friends from 1:00pm-2:00pm prior to the service.

Entombment with military rites will be at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Greer, SC.
