Charles Settle, Sr.

Charles Louis Settle, Sr., 89, of Spartanburg, SC, passed away on Sunday, June 16, 2024 at White Oak Manor of Spartanburg. 

Born in Spartanburg, SC, he was the son of the late Boyce and Alice Coggins Settle. Charles was the widower of Shirley Jackson Settle, who passed away in 2011. In his high school years, Charles was an accomplished athlete, serving as captain of his basketball and baseball teams. He enjoyed being outdoors golfing, fishing, and hunting. Charles was also an avid Clemson fan, especially  baseball and football. He was of the Baptist faith. 

Surviving are a son, Charles Louis Settle, Jr., and daughter in law, Sarah Beth Settle; a sister, Betty Johannes (Jack). Also surviving are two grandsons, Wyatt and Elijah Settle. 

In addition to his parents and wife, Charles was predeceased by a daughter, Rhonda Lee Settle, brothers, Harold, Glenn, Bo, and Bob, and a sister, Gayle Sims. 

A funeral service will be held at 11:00am, Friday, June 21, 2024 at Petty Funeral Home with Rev. Brian Redding officiating. 

The family will receive friends from 10:00am - 11:00am prior to the service. 

Following the service, burial will be in Boiling Springs Memorial Gardens. 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Agape Hospice, 706 E. Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29302.
