Charles R. Barnett

Charles Barnett, 84, of Columbus passed away on September 26, 2024. He was the son of the late Floyd Raymond Barnett and Ruth Horton Belue. He was married to Barbara Gregory Barnett. He worked as a printer at the Tryon Daily Bulletin for approximately 35 years and retired from Simkins Industries. He is survived by his wife Barbara Gregory Barnett; a son Phillip Barnett; a daughter Greta Bivens; a sister Nancy Wallace; step children Barrie Glasscock, Audrie Lewis, Terrie Honeycutt, Kimberly Nester and Tish Fox; four grandchildren Hunter Barnett, Seth Barnett, Sawyer Barnett and Andrew Bivens; and numerous step grandchildren and step great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife of 21 years Lillie Mae Davis Lewis Barnett and will be interred alongside her; a son Rusty Barnett; two brothers Harold Barnett and Clarence Barnett; a sister Marian White and a step child Charlie Lewis. A graveside service will be held Wednesday, October 2, 2024 at 2:00 pm at Peniel Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Scott Moneyham of Holly Springs Baptist Church where Charles was a member. Memorials may be made in memory of Charles to Hospice of the Carolina Foothills, 374 Hudlow Rd, Forest City, NC 28043
