Buddy Lee Vaughn, 81, of Campobello, SC, passed away on Friday, August 16, 2024, at Upstate Community Hospice House, Landrum, SC.
Born in Marion, NC, he was the son of the late Lee and Annie Mae Gettys Vaughn. He was the husband of Hattie Mathis Vaughn, and Buddy was a wonderful caregiver to her. Buddy will be remembered as a man who loved his family, especially his grandchildren. He was an auto body mechanic, still doing body work at eighty-one years of age. Buddy was known as a "jack of all trades". A generous man, he was often finding ways to help others in need.
Surviving are his wife, Hattie Mathis Vaughn; two daughters, Sherry Reid (Tommy) and Shannon Lanford (Blake); two brothers, Ernest Vaughn (Sharon) and Bobby Vaughn (Brenda); five grandchildren, Amanda Clontz, Alston Mosley (Katherine), Ben Lanford, Hudson Lanford, and Travis Huskey. Also surviving are eight great-grandchildren, and a son in law, Charles Huskey
Buddy was predeceased by a daughter, Sonya Ann Huskey; a son, Johnny Lee Vaughn, and two sisters, Dorothy Lane and Etta Thrift.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00am, Monday, August 19, 2024 at Petty Funeral Home with Rev. Douglas Carpenter and Rev. Sean Fortner officiating.
The family will receive friends from 10:00am - 11:00am prior to the service.
Burial will be at Vein Mountain Church, Marion, NC.
