Blanche Lorraine (Williams) Messer, 82, of Inman SC, passed away on Thursday, January 2, 2025. Born in Jonesville, VA, she was the daughter of the late Bruce Lee Williams and Edith (Miner) Williams and the devoted wife of John T. Messer.
Blanche was a very talented seamstress. She had quite the green thumb, made delicious, canned goods, and was great at needlepoint; all of which she would enter into the fair each year, ultimately winning ribbons. She cared deeply for her neighbors, who she considered family. She enjoyed watching professional football with the Kansas City Chiefs being her favorite team. Blanche also was a fan of The Golden Girls, Elton John, Tom Jones, Cher and Tina Turner. She was a loving mother and a loving Nana. Her grandchildren note that she always showed them unconditional love and excitement, no matter the circumstance. The most fittin’ word to describe Nana would be “poised”. She made sure to teach each of her grandkids proper etiquette, sometimes even having her oldest walk around the house with a book on her head to ensure proper posture. She was selfless when it came to her grandkids and put them above all else. She would comfort them and make sure they felt loved. She enthusiastically shared things from her past that she knew her grandkids would enjoy hearing.
In addition to John T. Messer, her husband of 62 years, she is survived by her daughters, Lori Troup (Thomas) and Amy Whiteside (Randy); her grandchildren, Jessie Stephens, Hayden Troup, Clara Troup and J.T. Troup; a beloved niece, Darlene Blakely; and numerous other nieces and nephews.
Blanche is predeceased by her brothers; Troy Williams, Hayden Williams and Morris Williams; and her sister, Joyce Miles.
The family will be having a private service.
To honor Blanche, share fond memories with your loved ones, keep your head held high, your shoulders held back and your elbows off the dinner table.
