Ann Kathryn Wallace Fisher, 91, of Columbus, NC, passed away peacefully on September 10, 2025. She was the beloved daughter of the late William Walter and Ruth Cochrane Wallace and devoted wife of the late Douglas Dean Fisher.
Ann was a faithful member of Columbus Presbyterian Church for over 75 years, where she served with dedication as a Sunday School teacher and choir member. She retired from banking after a distinguished career at NCNB bank (later Bank of America) in Tryon, NC, where she became a local expert in retirement services and IRAs when NationsBank pioneered these programs.
Throughout her life, Ann demonstrated her caring spirit through extensive volunteer work as a Girl Scout leader and with organizations including Meals on Wheels, Steps to Hope, and the local library.
She is survived by three daughters: Karen Fisher Allen (Donnie), Jennifer Fisher Newsome (Alan), and Susan Fisher Eckel; her brother William Ladson "Bill” Wallace (Ann); six grandchildren: Brock Allen (Allyson) and Brian Allen, Jessica Peters, Evan Newsome (Shaine) and Thomas Newsome, and Elizabeth Christian; three great-grandchildren: Avery Kate and Charlotte Peters, and Cambridge Allen; and her cherished friend, Gene Owens as well as many nieces and nephews. Ann was predeceased by her sister Betty Ruth Powell.
A celebration of life will be held at Columbus Presbyterian Church, 21 Peniel Road, Columbus, NC 28722, on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, at 2:00 PM.
