Vernell B. McDowell

Vernell B. McDowell, 102, passed away January 27, 2019 at the Hospice House of the Carolina Foothills.  She was the daughter of the late William Hinsdale and Edna Mae Prince Barnette and the wife of the late Thomas Yates McDowell.

She was a member of Green Creek First Baptist Church.  She was known to most people in the community as "Sister" and was a very loving and giving person who was always ready to help someone in need.

She is survived by a son Thomas McDowell (Nancy); a daughter, Peggy McEachern; five grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased  by three brothers and six sisters.

The family will receive friends 12:00PM - 1:00PM Tuesday, January 29, 2019 at Green Creek First Baptist Church where funeral services will follow at 1:00PM conducted by Rev. Jim Hooper and Rev. Allen McKinney.  Burial will be in the church cemetery.
