Nellie Halford Obituary

Nellie Brown Halford, 83, of Tryon went home to be with her Lord and Savior on May 7, 2018.  Nellie was the daughter of the late James and Mary Hutcherson Brown of Saluda, NC and wife of the late Edward W. Halford.

Nellie was a member of Grace Baptist Church in Landrum, SC and retired from Sara Lee Corporation.

Nellie is survived by her children, Sandra Reid (Kenneth), Wayne Halford (Martha), Calvin Halford (Christine) all of Tryon, Kim Searcy (Ricky) of Mill Spring and Darlene Forrester of Campobello; a sister, Ruby Thompson of Saluda, NC and a beloved best friend Vivian Searcy of Mill Spring, NC.

She was Nanny to Travis Reid (Sarah), Joshua Halford, Christopher Halford, Chandler Stanfield, Samatha Reid (Justin), Kensley Hendrix (Thomas), Skylar Searcy, Jodi Stanfield, LeighAnne Fowler, Cora Robinson and Christopher, Kerigan, Braeden and Kileigh Sullivan.  She has two great grandchildren, Emalynn Fong and Eden Hendrix.

She was predeceased by her loving husband of 63 years, Ed Halford; a daughter and son-in-law, Candy and Don Stanfield; a beloved son-in-law Kenneth Reid; infant sons, Marshall and James Halford; Brothers Walter Hutcherson and James Brown; and Sisters Ola Hunsinger, Marie Tessneer and Mary Phillips.

The family will receive friends from 10:00-11:00am Friday, May 11, 2018 at Grace Baptist Church with service to follow at 11:00 am conducted by Pastor Nick Vance and Ron Severs.  Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens.

The family is at the home of Ricky and Kim Searcy, 500 Silver Creek Road, Mill Spring, NC.
