Jerry James Carruth, 71, of Landrum passed away on November 20, 2018. He was the son of the late James and Brooks Griffin Carruth. He was a member of Landrum First Baptist Church and served in the US Army. He was a graduate of Landrum High School and Wofford College.
He is survived by a daughter Carlton Anne Carruth and her mother Saralu Epton Carruth; three sisters, Jean Plumley Boyce (John), Betty Pryor, and Frances Smith (Benny); a brother in law Harold Burns (Candace); and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a sister, Harriette Burns; and two brother-in-laws, Bill Pryor and John Plumley.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30am Saturday December 1, 2018 at Landrum First Baptist Church conducted by The Rev. Dr. Michael Doty. The family will receive friends following the service at the church.
In lieu of flowers, the family desires memorials to be sent to the Jerry James Carruth Memorial Fund at First Citizens Bank. Proceeds will go to Columbia International University - CIU Bible Study Program for incarcerated individuals who wish to apply biblical principals in ministering to others.
